Dear friends,

I would like to offer everyone to join my project of creation of uniform database for modern world coins (XX-XXI centuries).

From the beginning of collecting, I had a dream to put in order all available coin's data in the catalogue. Certainly, all numismatists make the catalogue of coins they have. I would like to provide that in the catalogue besides a specification of a coin - Krause number, year of release, a grade of a coin there would be also other information. As for example, years of issue, material, weight and diameter, kind of a groove, and also the description of obverse and reverse and scans of coins. I also consider as expedient, inclusion in to the catalogue Krause prices of coins depending on their grade.

After long and unsuccessful searches in a network, I understood that in a full kind, including all necessary information, such catalogue was not presented anywhere. Possibly, it simply does not exist.

Therefore I began to create such catalogue myself. I also understood very soon, that I should sacrifice scans of coins. I just have no time to do that. I take descriptions of coins either from sites of national banks (mint house), or from electronic Krause edition - www.numismaster.com.

Certainly it is not the best case, frequently this description is a formal one and also does not contain the information about the subject or does not contain even a surname of the represented person. It is very insulting. Because of shortage of time and simple absence of idea where to search for the required information, I am forced to be limited to this description. But in an ideal I dream to have not formal, but the detailed description of a coin with hyperlinks to articles about the image (person, animal, national arms etc) where it would be possible to gather exhaustive information on a subject of conversation.

I understand, that for one person it is very difficult task. But aren't there enough numismatists in the world ? Only hundreds (if not thousands) collectors from around the world make post swaps. And who could better than the Thai men tell what symbolizes this or that sign on fine Thai coins, and the Canadian in details describe history of the Canadian coins? And, certainly, it would be desirable to see in such edition wonderful color scans of these coins.

However, for the beginning, it would be quite good to create the encyclopedia even of only circulating coins of XX-XXI centuries. I think, it is quite feasible task. For example, in recently appeared countries (the CIS countries, the former Yugoslavia) there is very little amount of circulating coins and there are remarkable sites of national banks with practically full information about coins. Collectors from other countries know history of their money better and could share such information with all of us.

For the beginning of such a work I offer to all absolutely for free to download my own catalogue of the coins, which I already have (not full, but constantly updated). Though in little bit shortened - without descriptions and scans.

I am ready to send full variant of my catalogue and even all available scans to all, who wants to participate in such project in exchange for their information.

Also I invite to work together all professional web-masters, who would be interested in the given subject, and I hope for your help in improvement and promotion in the network of our database of coins. I hope, that our catalogue will become public and very popular among all numismatists of the world.

WWCC (World Wide Coins Continue) - such a big name, I've decided to give to my site in honor to old famous Russian project WWC, which had ambitious aim to create encyclopedia of modern world coins. Unfortunately that project was stopped and already for more than 2 years there were no new coins added. But dream is still alive and I hope WWCC will continue movement to unit data and create new database of modern world coins. And even if this idea can be implemented only in far future, we have to start it.

I invite you to cooperation.

It is possible to download my catalogue here.

Best regards,
